In collaboration with the Grabarcyzk lab at VSU, we developed a strong Anuran Acoustics team and explored dynamics of frog calls to understand variation in acoustic communication in frogs and toads in how they adjust with ecological and anthropogenic factors such as noise, light, water quality, and predators.
We had hoped to develop machine-learning models to better detect declining species like the Gopher Frog and Ornate Chorus Frog.
Unfortunately, this research did not result in publications and the collaboration has paused since the Phillips Lab left VSU. We are open to future opportunities along these lines should they arise.
